INDEPENDENT READING
Independent reading is reading that you will complete during your own free time. This means you should have this novel with you at ALL TIMES! You need to read and complete projects for 2 novels and 1 nonfiction article response each 9 weeks. One project will be due approximately every 3 weeks. Exceptions may be approved, on an individual basis, by your teacher.
Grading:
Each project is worth 100 points making Independent Reading a total possible of 300 points/quarter.You may also earn 20 EXTRA CREDIT points by reading a fourth novel and completing a fourth project.
Note:
8th graders will not receive credit/extra credit for novels read in 6th or 7th grade.
7th graders will not receive credit/extra credit for class novels read in 5th or 6th grade.
7th/8th graders will not receive credit/extra credit for a novel that has been made into a movie.
